There's one every expansion. That one boss kill that eludes you for months. The one boss that I can't let go of. The one boss kill that feels better than all of the others when you finally defeat it. In BC, it was Kael'thas. In WotLK, it was Yogg-Saron.
Frustration, morale and apathy become the real obstacles to overcome after a boss becomes a roadblock. Well I'm really glad the guild came together to make a second push at getting this boss down. Once folks got into the spirit of wanting to see the Old God of Death die, we made short work of him in just over 2 raid nights of work.
The guild should be very pleased with this accomplishment. I want to thank all of the folks that cleared a 10-man Ulduar instance with me so we could train on Yogg-Saron there. That was instrumental in getting this kill. I also want to thank all of the folks that showed up (including those who sat out) on the various Yogg even though there was no good loot to be had.
And it may seem lame, but I want to dedicate this kill to Reorix. He and I have been talking about Yogg for months, talking about strategy and getting excited for our return to Ulduar. Unfortunately, his work schedule changed this week and he wasn't able to participate in the kill. So this one is for you, Reo.
Gratz to the guild. Last night was awesome!
I'm very proud to lead this group of men and women.
So we took out Onyxia......again. We had a blast going back in time a few years and fighting this legendary black dragon. We wiped a few times, but overall it's not a tough fight. It did feel a lot like the classic encounter which was good.
Oh and if I recall correctly I think Dwarn, Flo and Rissa all get a 50 DKP minus for getting flung into the whelps. I don't even see how that is even remotely possible. :P
So last night we had our game faces on and we made fairly quick work of Anub'arak. I think we have our strategy nailed down and I look forward to seeing what we can do with the heroic mode of this instance.
Gratz to everyone and especially the loot winners which I'll post later.
So after besting the Faction Champions for a second time (this time without rogues), we set ourselves against the Twin Val'kyrs. After a few fun attempts, with lots of jokes about balls, we downed the twins without much effort.
The fight is definitely fun, but easy. Describing what to do for the fight was much harder than actually doing it.
Gratz to the loot winners:
Trophy of the Crusade - Kaandre
Cord of Pale Thorns - Integrilin
Skyweaver Robes - Apacheblink
Bracers of the Shieldmaiden - Beomaire
So TAC takes down the faction champions. This was a very unique fight, which can be a bit frustrating, but at the same time it is fun and challenging. It's rewarding when you can see steady progress from attempt to attempt as we make tweaks to the strategy. Thanks to Beo for the great positioning strategy. Also, welcome back our rogues, Grime and Dirti, and thanks for respecing for the fight!
Wow. What a pushover boss. We went over the strategy and beat Lord Jaraxxus in one attempt. On the one hand, it was fun and on the other it was a bit dissappointing.
In any case, we continued to claim some of the great loot from the Coliseum.
Gratz to the winners (some of the hotlinking doesn't work yet):
- Reorix (Bloodbath Belt) - Vanquish (Pride of the Eredar) - Dudditz (Ring of the Darkmender) - Sagekin - Flonnette
So on the first night of 3.2, TAC defeats the first and only unlocked boss of the Crusader's Coliseum. The Beasts of Northrend consisted of a magnataur, two jormungars and a yeti. I had a ton of fun. It was unique in that there wasn't many strategies out there to read up on. Some of the mechanics, we had to figure out for ourselves, which was cool.
Gratz to the loot winners (wowhead doesn't have the links yet), especially Taiia who got the first tier 9 token.
